GOT CA$H
I'm so sorry I have not posted anything in such a long while! I have been very busy with school, and my participation at 3 different dance studios. now i don't have as much time on my hands, because I am getting much more homework, and have much more dance rehearsals to attend. I am now a hard working 6th grade student at CTMS. I am in the GT program and also in GOT CA$H. GOT CA$H is a program where the 6th grade world discoveries students are teaching kids all about money. Currently we have held 1 market place, which is a market where kids have the opportunity to buy and sell products. this teaches kids what owning a real store is like, and how to earn a profit. our first market place was a huge success. If you would like to support GOT CA$H, come and eat with us at Sonic (4700 Colleyville Blvd by Branford Elementary) on December 4 from 11-5, or join us on December 10. On December 10 we will be holding a rummage sale in the CTMS cafeteria or SAC (student activity center). GOT CA$H is educating our students on what/how to earn a profit, what is a bank account and how does it operate, how to earn money, and how to manage money. If you would like to find out more about GOT CA$H, please post your question and sign with your name. I would be happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have.

My Freedom Flight Project
Veterans
Written by Jasmine Rodriguez
The ones who need the most respect.
The ones we love and honor and trust.
The ones who served the country.
Our faithful veterans.
Our love is thrown at them, and that is how it should be.
They have gone through tough times that we could never imagine.
And it was all for us.
The battle hurt many…families and men….
We cry and cry and cry thinking, how could this be?
For they were only protecting us.
Our freedom is because of them.
They gave their lives, bodies and hearts.
And what we can return is simple thanks and a gentle hug and smile
So every night I pray,
Thank you god, for blessing us
With men who fought,
Devoted their lives,
Gave their hearts
All for us.
We couldn’t live without them,
For our wonderful and free lives are all because of them.
Bless them and their families, for I and many people have changed lives because of what they did.

Freedom Flight
One student from each school in the GCISD district got selected to go on a special trip called "Freedom Flight". On this trip you will be flying to Washington DC with some of the WWII veterans! You will be seeing lots of famous and historical landmarks. To be able to go on this fabulous and FREE trip you had to be selected. To be selected, you must enter one of the following contests: 1. You must come up with the best design for a coin. The design must symbolize the veterans of WWII in some way. This coin is given out to many people as a memory of the great veterans that fought in WWII. 2. You must answer the following question in the form of literature, arts, film, or photography. How would you thank a veteran? Many people entered this contest and I was one of the 50 people that won! YAHOOOOOOOOOOO! I am so excited to be going to Washington DC! I might even get to be on the news! THIS IS GOING TO BE SUCH A FUN, LIFE CHANGING EXPERIENCE!!!

One Day I Planted a Seed
I wrote a poem for you guys! Hope you like it!
One day I planted a seed
that seed turned into a tree
and there the tree sat, in the middle of green for all the world to see
Soon that tree made seeds
those seeds turned into trees
and there the trees sat, in the middle of green for all the world to see
and on and on it went like that from seed to tree to seed
and on and on it went like that from couple to few to bunches of trees
and there they sat, in the middle of green for all the world to see
Then one day along came a man who cut down all those trees
so I had to come again and plant another seed
but it took millions and millions and millions of years to return our earth green

Tabolina
Hello! As you all know, I love writing! I made up a cute little story that I think you will enjoy! It's called "Tabolina". Enjoy!
Once upon a time, there lived a little girl named Tabolina. Now you see, Tabolina was a very busy girl. Being a busy girl, Tabolina sometimes forgets things, and she doesn't handle them very well.
Sometimes Tabolina forgets to wash the dishes.
"Don't you forget again!" her mother cries, "I need that work done!"
Or sometimes Tabolina forgets that soccer practice is at 3:30, not 3:45. Plus, sometimes she shows up with the wrong equipment.
"You need to be more responsible!" her coach always said.
Tabolina always got very mad. She would scream and yell and kick and throw and big tantrum. All the yelling was driving her crazy.
So, since Tabolina is a very busy girl, she is always stuck with a bucket full of problems.
One day, Tabolina couldn't take anymore yelling about the things she was forgetting to do. So Tabolina went for a walk.
"How nice and peaceful it is out here," Tabolina thought. She passed an bakery, that used to smell of fresh baked goods. She walked next to an old hair salon, that would soon be closing. As she was about to head home, she passed by a fruit stand. The fruit stand seemed unoccupied, but as Tabolina looked closer, she saw a little old lady sweeping the outside of the stand with a small red broom.
Just as Tabolina made her way over to the fruit stand, the little old lady flipped her closed sign to "open". In seconds dozens of people crowded around the fruit stand, waving money in the air. The little old lady ran back and forth. Going to the back of the stand to grab fruit and then back to the front to place another order.
"That little old lady looks very busy just like me," whispered Tabolina. "I wonder how she deals with her bucket of problems...do people yell at her too?"
So she went to the back of the line to speak to that little old lady. Tabolina waited, and waited, and waited.
When she finally made her way up to the front of the line, the little old lady asked, "What would you like?"
"Well, I'm not here to buy fruit. You see I'm having problems because I'm-" Tabolina was interrupted by the little old lady.
"I'm sorry dear. I am very busy and there is no time to waste. Come back tomorrow at 7:30, right before I open."
So Tabolina went home. She was greeted by lots of problems.
"It's your turn to set the table," her mother warned.
"Take the dog out, Tabolina, he's been waiting all day. How could you have forgotten?" her father said. But Tabolina went straight to bed for tomorrow was the day that all her problems would be answered.
At 7:30 on the dot Tabolina was standing in front of the little old lady's fruit stand.
"Is that you from yesterday?" asked the little old lady. "What were you saying about a problem?"
"Well," began Tabolina, "I am a very busy person, just like you, and was wondering how you deal with the bucket of problems that comes with being so busy. Since you're so busy, its just so easy to forget things, and I always get yelled at. Like, just the other day I was-"
The little old lady interrupted, "Everyday before I open and after I close my little fruit stand, I sweep everywhere around it. It's as if the broom sweeps away my problems. I only remember the important things, and I never forget anything that need to be done." The little old lady closed her eyes, as if about to say something important. "Remember: get organized, remember all the important things, stay calm, and clean your mind everyday so it can start fresh again. That's all there really is to it." But Tabolina didn't hear that last part, she had already skipped back home.
Tabolina ran to the closet at under the stairs. She found little brooms and big brooms. Fat brooms and skinny brooms. And finally she found one that looked just like the one the little old lady had. It was small and red, just perfect for Tabolina.
That night, before Tabolina climbed into bed, she swept all around her room, and again in the morning. After she went downstairs for breakfast, she went upstairs to brush her teeth. She bumped into her father on the way up.
"Where is the mail?" he cried, "I thought I told you to get it right after breakfast."
After she threw on some clothes, she passed her mother with a basket full of laundry. "Why haven't you folded these yet?" she asked, "That was to be done a while ago."
What was happening? What had she done wrong? Tabolina was very confused, so she went back to the little old lady's fruit stand.
"Something is wrong," said Tabolina to the little old lady, "I swept my room before I went to bed and right when I woke up. Why did I still forget things? Why did people still yell at me?" The little old lady laughed, and even put on a sly smile.
"Remember:," she said, "get organized, remember all the important things, stay calm, and clean your mind everyday so it can start fresh again."
As the little old lady flipped the closed sign to "open", Tabolina thought about what the little old lady said. She went home to put those words into action.
She didn't forget any of her chores, or what time her practices were, or what equipment to bring. She thought about every little thing that needed to be done, and did not waste a single minute. But, just to be sure, before she went to bed that night, Tabolina swept her room one last time.
I hope you enjoyed this fun little story! I will be posting another story soon!

I'm a Busy Bee!
I love to be busy. Whether it is doing my extra curricular activities, or just hanging out with friends.
One of my most favorite things to do is dance. I have been dancing for over 7 years, and I continue to dance now in a competitive dance group at Lifesong Studio. I have been dancing in a competitive group since 2007. I do all different kinds of dance, which includes ballet, tap, jazz, and lyrical. I spend about 9-12 hours a week dancing at my studio. I love to dance! I love being on stage and showing my talent, as well as being with all of my dance friends.
I am a piano player, and a voice student. I take both of these classes at Lifesong Studio. I have been a piano player for over 4 years and have been taking voice lessons for over 2.
I am also a basketball player. I play on an all girls team, and am a really good player too! I have practice once a week with my team, plus one practice each week with my dad. I also have games on Friday.
As you can see, my week is pretty busy. And when I'm not busy...I'm spending times with good friends!
If you would like to learn more about Lifesong Studio, go to http://www.lifesongstudio.com/ for more information.

Creative Writing
I am a student at Timberline Elementary and my favorite subject is creative writing. I enjoy making readers feel like they are living the moment of someone else, because I enjoy books that make me feel that way.
"So B. It", (the book I mentioned in my previous posting) really makes you feel in the shoes of Heidi, the main character. Sarah Weeks, the author of "So B. It" also wrote a book called "As Simple As Is Seems". I am currently reading this book and it is fantastic! When you read these books, you feel so many different things and you don't know what feeling is in store next. Sarah Weeks is my favorite author!
Creative writing is exciting because you have a motivating goal to make your reader live the moment is which you are writing about. You can share your passion, your feelings, your life, your problems, etc. This can also be your chance to share a message with the World. When you revise and edit your story, it is like seeing how you can make the reader feel even MORE in the moment of your story. After you finish, you will feel proud of your work which you believe will make a stupendous story to read and enjoy, and you will feel proud of yourself for completing a wonderful piece. You should try it!

Welcome to my Blog!
Welcome to my blog! I am going to be writing about different topics throughout the year. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know.
I have just finished reading a book called So B. It by Sarah Weeks. It is wonderful story about a young girl, Heidi, whose mother is mentally disabled. She is accompanied through life by her neighbor Bernadette. Bernadette said she had found a woman outside her door on holding a crying baby girl, Heidi. She had washed Heidi, and after they left she had heard the baby cry again, but she could not go out into the hall and knock on their door because of her A.P. or "angora phobia". Heidi does all the shopping, with the money she wins at the laundromat. Heidi wonders a lot about her family history, and when she finds an old camera in the back of a drawer with pictures, she knows what she has to do. She travels all the way to Liberty, New York by herself (because of Bernadette's "angora phobia") to find out about her family. She finds out extraordinary things, and sometimes its hard for Heidi to think straight in all the commotion. Why, with more things that had happened then she could have ever imagined, and with the loss of some of her closest family members-it is just unpredictable. In the end she learns about her family, but that doesn't really make a difference to who she is. This is a fantastic novel that I absolutely loved.
If you are interested in reading So B. It, you can check it out at the Timberline Elementary library or at the Grapevine public library. You can also purchase this book at www.amazon.com.
